GONA-MAX (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin), or hCG for short, is a hormone used by bodybuilders to improve results on anabolic and androgenic steroids. The hormone is produced by a pregnant woman's placenta and is essential for a healthy human pregnancy. The hormone can be obtained from the urine of pregnant women or generated in a laboratory using recombinant DNA.
Some bodybuilders who use steroids also use hCG at the end of the steroid dosage cycle to increase testosterone production.
