Andriol is a unique oral testosterone product developed by the international pharmaceutical company Organon. One of the recently developed anabolic steroids, Andriol was first introduced in the early 1980s. This compound contains 40 mg of testosterone undecanoate, in oil (oleic acid) and sealed in a capsule. If you subtract the ester weight, this corresponds to a dosage of approx. 25 mg of raw testosterone per cap. The design of this steroid is very different from that of most oral steroids. Medicines given orally usually enter the bloodstream through the liver. If a steroid compound is given without any form of structural protection, it will break down quickly during the "first pass". This process leaves very little steroid intact, basically disabling the drug. Adding a methyl group (c-17 AA) to the structure is one way to protect it from this process, but it is also scattered to the liver. In some cases, this stress can lead to actual damage to liver tissues, so the designers of this steroid looked for another way to protect the testosterone molecule. With Andriol, this was achieved through a form of testosterone that would be absorbed by the lymphatic system. This is due to its high fat solubility caused by the ester and its suspension in oil. The compound so absorbed was believed to be very beneficial as it allowed the steroid to bypass the destructive initial transit through the liver. This should allow the compound to enter the bloodstream intact without the need for a harsh chemical change. The ester breaks down as soon as it is in circulation naturally, leaving free active pharmacokinetics of oral testosterone. In design this steroid appears to be undecanoate, derived from a completely liver safe and orally active form of testosterone.
On paper, this drug appears to be an ideal oral testosterone product. Clean, safe and worlds apart from other oral testosterone derivatives like the raw methyl testosterone. But as we always hear in life, if it looks good to be true, it probably is. And there are definitely some problems with Andriol. The first problem is that bioavailability, while clear, worlds apart from just trying to take testosterone orally, is likely not significant next to C17alpha-alkylated orals. Athletes usually find that in doses less than 240 mg per day (6 capsules) effects are usually not seen at all. 240 mg daily testosterone ester, the primary male androgen, and only a meager effect. When doses go higher, maybe 8-10 capsules (320-400 mg), new muscle growth, light to moderate, is best, but no incredible bulky gains are ever reported. Logic means that just a little testosterone makes its way into the circulation.
Testosterone is a powerful hormone no matter what the ester or the form of administration. If it were active in the bloodstream, the results would need to be spoken. When injecting an oil-based testosterone ester like Cypionate, a dosage of 400 mg per week is more than adequate. 400 mg of Andriol per day should be packed into an incredible amount of bulk. Where is it all going? Individual problems with absorption can play a role here. During one day you can always get great absorption, maybe the next day you get very little.
One might also be interested in the "mildness" of this compound as described by other bodybuilding materials. Andriol is often talked about as a kind of magic product that somehow allows for a form of regular testosterone to be annoying for minimal estrogen conversion. You should know that the way a drug is administered includes a number of factors that can easily change its effects, the most prevalent being the rate of release. This will affect the time it takes to reach peak blood levels and likely the length of time it will take to see results.
The primary reason Testosterone Suspension seems stronger than Enanthate is because more drug is active on the first day. At the same time, estrogen builds up faster and side effects are pronounced very quickly. The ester is also part of the total weight, and 100 mg testosterone contains a much larger amount of testosterone molecules, the testosterone and esters, another reason for varying effects. But these changes aren't all that much. The structure of testosterone is what allows it to break down into estrogen. The only way we can really prevent an androgen from converting to estrogen is to change the base molecule, not the ester. Once free in the bloodstream, we cannot prevent testosterone from being aromatized without affecting the aromatase enzyme itself.
