X-TANE - It contains Drug / Molecules "Exemestane". It is a type of hormone therapy and belongs to the aromatase inhibitor class. It is used to treat breast cancer for those women who have had their menopause. Postmenopausal estrogen is mainly produced by changing androgens (sex hormones produced by the adrenal glands) into estrogens. This process is called aromatization and happens mostly in the fatty tissues, muscles and skin. It needs a specific enzyme called aromatase. Exemestane blocks the process of aromatization. So it lowers the amount of estrogen in the body.
This drug is used to treat certain types of breast cancer (such as hormone receptor positive breast cancer) in postmenopausal women. In the early stages of cancer, exemestane may help stop breast cancer from coming back. In advanced breast cancer, the cancer cells may grow more slowly or stop growing completely.
