MAXI-FEN (Tamoxifen Citrate), is the trade name for the drug Tamoxifen Citrate, it is a non-steroidal agent that shows strong anti-estrogenic properties. The drug is technically an estrogen agonist / antagonist that competitively binds to estrogen receptors in various target tissues. When the tamoxifen molecule is bound to this receptor, estrogen is blocked by exerting some kind of effect and an anti-estrogenic effect is achieved. Because many forms of breast cancer are estrogen responsive, the ability of tamoxifen citrate to block its action in such cells has proven to be a very effective treatment. It is also used successfully as a preventive measure by people with an extremely high family tendency for breast cancer. While MAXI-FEN is effective against estrogen, it is not our strongest remedy available. We now have the drugs Arimidex, Femara, and Aromasin available, which primarily prevent estrogen from being made in the first place. Changing the effects of estrogen in the female body can cause a level of discomfort, so anti-estrogens are most tolerable when past the point of menopause. Since MAXI-FEN is milder in comparison, it is more broadly applicable and usually the first treatment option.
As mentioned earlier, an enzyme in the male body (aromatase) is able to alter testosterone to make estradiol. The structure of estrogen is actually quite similar to testosterone, so its presence in the male body isn't all that is noteworthy. Since this same enzyme can also aromatize many anabolic / androgenic steroids, the build up of estrogens can be a major concern while ingestion. High concentrations can cause a number of undesirable side effects, a primary concern of gynecomastia or the development of female breast tissue in men. This can first be noticed by the appearance of swelling or a small lump under the nipple. If it progresses, it can lead to very unsightly tissue development, often irreversible without surgery. Estrogen can also cause an increase in the amount of water retained in the body. The result here can be a remarkable loss of definition; the muscles begin to look smooth and puffy due to the retention of subcutaneous fluid. Fat storage can also be increased as estrogen levels rise. Indeed, this hormone is the main reason women have higher body fat percentages and different fat distributions (hips / thighs) than men. Individuals sensitive to the effects of estrogen will usually be sure to have an anti-estrogen on hand when dealing with problem steroids, so as to minimize the effects of associated side effects.
This drug also shows the ability to increase the production of FSH (follicle stimulating hormone) and LH (luteinizing hormone) in the male body. It does this by blocking the negative feedback inhibition caused by estrogen in the hypothalamus and pituitary gland, which encourages the release of the aforementioned pituitary hormones. Of course, this is also the function of Clomid and Cyclofenil. Since a higher release of LH can stimulate the Leydig cells in the testes to produce more testosterone, MAXI-FEN can have a positive impact on serum testosterone levels. This "testosterone-stimulating" effect is an additional benefit when preparing for the end of a steroid cycle (post cycle therapy or PCT). Since most anabolic / androgenic steroids suppress endogenous testosterone production, MAXI-FEN can help restore a balance in hormone levels. MAXI-FEN should in fact be preferred over Clomid for this purpose, as it is clearly the stronger active ingredient alongside each other. It has also been shown that the LH response to gonadotropin releasing hormone increase over time, while Clomid slightly decreases this sensitivity as the drug is used for several weeks.
In some cases, the use of only one estrogen antagonist, such as MAXI-FEN or Clomid, may be sufficient for testosterone stimulating purposes, especially when using a milder or shorter steroid program (which should have a less pronounced effect on the hormonal system ). With stronger cycles the most option is to improve the stimulatory effects of these drugs with HCG, a hormone that mimics the effects of LH. HCG use provides an excessive level of stimulation to the testicles which can essentially shock them from a prolonged state of inactivity. In such a condition, the Leydig cells cannot produce a normal amount of testosterone even though the normal release of gonadotropins has been achieved. MAXI-FEN can be tricky at this point. Remember, it only blocks the effects of estrogen that is present in the body. If removed at a time when estrogen levels are still abnormally high, related side effects can quickly become a major problem.
